Systems Engineer (Berkeley, CA)

Are you passionate about pushing the limits of technology to advance our understanding of the life sciences? So are we! We’re seeking a dedicated Systems Engineer to join our Berkeley team. If you have hands-on experience in bioengineering or a related field and are enthusiastic about developing advanced instruments for life science applications, this role is for you. You will contribute to the design, testing, and optimization of innovative prototype systems, including microfluidic devices for single-cell analysis.

Responsibilities

    • Design, execute, and document experiments efficiently to support development.
    • Become a key operator of our proprietary prototype instruments.
    • Innovate and refine processes for microfluidic devices and related instruments.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with instrumentation, software, and devices.
    • Apply statistical methods and design of experiments to ensure robust development.
    • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team while also working independently.

Qualifications

    • Advanced degree in bioengineering, electrical/mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field.
    • 2+ years of professional experience in life sciences, with a focus on integrating hardware, software, and biology.
    • Proficiency in CAD design and testing of microfluidic devices.
    • Strong experience with experimental design and troubleshooting.
    • Comfortable working with live cells (BSL2) and using fluorescent microscopy.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail.
